Because, let's be honest, the MAC has no choice but to expand.
On Thursday, the deeply troubled conference announced that it will expand its football playing membership by adding the University of Texas at San Antonio and Texas State University, effective for the 2012 season. The move comes at a time of crisis for the conference, which will lose cornerstone member Boise State next year and then Fresno State and Nevada in 2012.
