FanHouse Top 30: No. 10 Baylor

After years of low expectations, finally this season the Baylor Bears are viewed as a team that can compete for a Big 12 championship and quite possibly advance all the way to the Final Four.

But that was before a basketball was bounced in practice and all the adversity set in.

The Bears are following up a fantastic run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament and a school-record 28 wins with an unimaginable flutter. It began early last month when star guard and leading scorer LaceDarius Dunn had been placed on suspension from the team and school after being arrested for allegedly punching his girlfriend. Then came speculation an NCAA investigation is set to probe Baylor's recruiting practices for the way assistant coach Mark Morefield dealt with 6-foot-9 forward Hanner Perea and his high school and AAU coaches.

This is not at all the way you start a season when the conversation should be about the opportunity to put Baylor permanently on the map with a talented nucleus of returning players and the addition of 6-foot-11 top-10 recruit Perry Jones (pictured above right) -- the Bears highest-rated recruit ever.
