San Diego State Basketball Players Accused of 'Jumping' Man in Club

San Diego State basketball players accusedThe San Diego State Aztecs have great expectations for the 2010-11 season, but if a 30-year-old Aztec alum's allegations are proven correct, the team could face some off-court issues in the upcoming days.

Jeffrey Layno, a graduate of SDSU, alleged on a local San Diego television news station that he intends to press charges against several yet-to-be-identified Aztec basketball players, stemming from an incident at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. He was attempting to leave a San Diego-area nightclub called Stingaree when Layno alleges he was "jumped" by "four or five basketball players."

He provided a bloodied eye and some scratches as evidence.

"Regardless of whether they are basketball players from San Diego State or not, I'll still press charges," Layno reportedly said on camera, "because I will not allow a person, or two or more people, hit me for no reason, for nothing that I did wrong."

"We're aware of the alleged incident," SDSU coach Steve Fisher told the San Diego Union-Tribune. "We are doing our due diligence investigating this from our end. Until we have more facts, we will have no further comment, nor will our players."

James Brennan, owner of the club, was briefed by his staff and told the Union-Tribune the issue should be a non-issue:
