Texas Crafts Formula for Success in Upset of No. 5 Nebraska

Texas Upsets NebraskaLINCOLN, Neb. -- In the midst of another celebration of victory over Nebraska, Texas coach Mack Brown was much more emotional Saturday than we are accustomed to seeing him.

The Longhorns coach seemed close to tears as he made his way from the sideline. From a distance it seemed that overcoming the fifth-ranked Cornhuskers, a team no one gave Texas a chance against -- and also ending a rare two-game losing streak -- had gotten the best of Brown.

What we found later is at that moment Brown's thoughts and emotions were with his wife, Sally, who wasn't present for the game because she was tending to the recent death of her brother. Football and the Longhorns' stunning 20-13 upset of the Cornhuskers were the furthest thing from his mind, even in a sea of 85,648 mostly red-clad fans at Memorial Stadium.

"Sometimes we get so carried away in sports that we forget what our families are about, what life is really about, what our priorities should be," Brown said. "I really wanted to talk to her instead of ABC."
