It's as simple as this for Steve Pederson: His job is on the line. And Mike Haywood is the only guy who can save it.
Pederson, the athletic director at the University of Pittsburgh, has reportedly hired Haywood to take over the enduringly average Panther football program (a press conference is scheduled for Thursday). And while Haywood certainly has some promise--he just led Miami of Ohio to a MAC championship, one year after seeing that same team finish 1-11--his hire is not exactly being celebrated by Panther fans, who expected much, much more in the wake of the firing of Dave Wannstedt.
