Renardo Sidney, Elgin Bailey, Mississippi State Teammates, Fight in Stands

Filed under:

Just before a second round game of the Diamond Head Classic -- a game that featured Hawai'i and Utah -- on Thursday night, a pair of Mississippi State basketball players were involved in a fight in the stands that resulted in both Elgin Bailey and Renardo Sidney throwing punches at one another before the altercation was broken up by teammates. Sidney was escorted out of the arena by ushers, though police said neither of the players were arrested.

Sidney has appeared in just two games this season for the Bulldogs and has averaged 15.5 points per game. He sat out all of last season while awaiting clearance from the NCAA.

Bailey, a 6-foot-8 forward, has appeared in 12 games and averaged 6.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Earlier in the week, the junior was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Mississippi State is one of eight teams competing in the tournament, and has posted a 1-1 mark in the event, losing to Washington State on Wednesday and defeating the University of San Diego by a 69-52 margin on Thursday.

Here's video of the fight...
