Roscoe Smith, Jordan Hamilton Mistakes Shade End of Texas-UConn

In one of the year's finest games, both teams made major, embarrassing gaffes in crunch time.

Texas and Connecticut battled to the wire Saturday, and some Kemba Walker heroics stole the show in the end. But before Walker's onslaught, Jordan Hamilton of Texas and Roscoe Smith of UConn both made some inexplicable plays.

First was Hamilton. With just over two minutes to play and the Longhorns trailing by one, Hamilton jumped in the passing lane for a steal and a break for a wide-open dunk to give the lead back to Texas. Except, well, he totally whiffed.

(I apologize for the footage. It was apparently taken by a cell phone off a TV. Just know that Hamilton missed the rim completely with his dunk and the ball went back to the Huskies.)

Not to be outdone, however, was UConn's Smith. In an even more crucial point in the game, Smith retrieved a loose ball after a block and, with the score tied and about 10 seconds remaining, threw up a full court heave. It sailed over the backboard and the ball went back to Texas, who -- fortunately for Smith -- couldn't convert the miscue into points and the game went to overtime.
