Mountain West Battle Headlines Week's Top College Hoops Games

This week lends several teams a chance to show they are here to stay, while it also gives a few also-rans a chance to make some noise against undefeated opponents. C'mon, Florida State. You're our only hope.

10. No. 8 Purdue (15-1, 4-0) at West Virginia (10-4, 2-2), Sunday, 1:30 p.m., CBS

No one's quite sure what to make of Purdue, but after this week things should be much more clear. The Boilermakers have a road game at Minnesota prior to traveling to Blacksburg, so a clean sweep would solidify Matt Painter's team as a Top 10 team. They've sat precariously around No. 10 all season, losing only once -- albeit to Richmond. West Virginia just beat Georgetown, so this could be a second résumé win in as many weeks.

9. No. 2 Ohio State (16-0, 3-0) at Michigan (11-5, 1-2), Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.

There is little reason beyond Sunday's game with Kansas to believe that Michigan can stay close with Ohio State. The Buckeyes are better at every position and in pretty much every facet of the game. Still, weird stuff happens on the road in conference play -- look at last Saturday. Plus, Ohio State has been shaky at best in its last two, beating Iowa by five on the road and Minnesota by three in Columbus.

8. No. 24 Georgia (12-2, 1-0) at Vanderbilt (11-3, 0-1), Wednesday, 8 p.m.

After a huge home win over Kentucky Saturday, the Bulldogs hit the road and head to one of the toughest places to play in the conference. Vanderbilt is on a different line, losing its opener to South Carolina. The 'Dores are desperate for a win, lest they fall to 0-2 in the SEC East, which will seriously diminish their chances at a conference championship.
