Michigan State's Emergency Bus Ride 'Not as Good as Division II'

Filed under:

As if losing to Illinois Tuesday night wasn't enough, Michigan State was forced to travel back to East Lansing via bus after deicing fluid was running short.

"It was awful," Spartans coach Tom Izzo said Thursday. "It wasn't as good as Division II, we had the upstairs (of the bus) so (assistant coach Mike Garland) and I used it to go up there and lay down."

Izzo said the team didn't return home until after 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, but the long trip served as a "reward" for his team's poor finish against the Illini, and it gave the coach a chance to pore over the game film.

"I got something out of it," Izzo said of the time, "but getting in at 4:35 a.m. wasn't fun."

But seriously, coach, the bus had AN UPSTAIRS! That's hardly Greyhound stuff. That's not even a bus ride. A real bus ride involves plastic seats and fellow travelers all of whom are on an all-onion diet.
