Les Miles Agrees to 7-Year Extension

Les Miles chose LSU over Michigan, and was apparently rewarded for his loyalty with a extension that runs through the 2017 season.

The school and Miles have agreed to a new deal that will maintain Miles' annual salary of a little more than $3.75 million, but includes additional performance bonuses.

"We are pleased to reach an agreement that will keep Les Miles as the leader of our football program for many years to come," said LSU athletic director Alleva said in a statement. "Les is one of the winningest coaches in the country over the last six years and his players perform well both in the classroom and in the community."

Miles was heavily linked to the Michigan coaching vacancy, and met with the team earlier in the week. In the end, though, he decided to stay at LSU. Miles is 62-17 as LSU's head coach, with a 5-1 record in bowl games, including a rout over Texas A&M in January's Cotton Bowl and 2008's BCS National Championship Game.
