Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor Feeling Heat Entering Sugar Bowl

NEW ORLEANS -- Ohio State junior quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who in three years as a starter has led the Buckeyes to three Big Ten championships, a 30-4 record and three victories over hated rival Michigan, was supposed to be bigger than Cam Newton.

By now, Pryor should have had the Heisman Trophy tucked securely under his right arm and a national championship ring on his left hand, but instead he's spent most of the last two weeks leading up to Tuesday night's Allstate Sugar Bowl against No. 8 Arkansas stiff-arming critics miffed by a combination of Ohio State's unfulfilled, perhaps unrealistic, team goals and his personal indiscretions.

The heat is on, but one of the maddening things about Pryor is the way in which his nonchalant response to Pants Gate has fueled the fire. Pryor and four of his teammates who profited by selling autographed school memorabilia - including the cherished gold pants that Ohio State gives to players when they beat Michigan - are being allowed to play in the Sugar Bowl in exchange for their promise to accept a five-game suspension at the beginning of the 2011 season and to agree not to enter the 2011 NFL Draft.
