If "style points" truly matter in the BCS, Ohio State could be in for some problems. The No. 2 Buckeyes needed everything they had to win their Big Ten opener, eventually slipping past Illinois 24-13 Saturday afternoon in Champaign.
To win, Ohio State had to survive falling behind early. Not only that, but starting quarterback and Heisman candidate Terrelle Pryor went down with a leg injury in the third quarter. None of that prevented the Buckeyes from improving to 5-0.
Illinois struck first on a Nathan Scheelhaase touchdown run, but it struggled offensively for the rest of the afternoon. The Illini averaged less than four yards per carry rushing, and Scheelhaase -- a redshirt freshman quarterback -- struggled to make plays through the air. He wasn't terribly accurate, and he only got over 100 yards passing on the team's final drive, when it was practically a hopeless cause.
