Zook, who entered this season on one of the hottest coaching hot seats in the country, had his players ready to go in all three phases of the game, and the Illini rolled to an easy 33-13 win over the Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium.
The major story of the game was the way the Illini controlled the ground game. Offensively, Illinois ran for 282 yards (led by 119 from Mikel Leshoure), and the Illini defense held Penn State to 65 yards on the ground.
It was the second consecutive impressive performance for the 3-2 Illini, who played No. 2 Ohio State tough for four quarters before falling short last week. It was also the first road win at Penn State in Illinois football history.
