Women's Basketball Mid-Majors Ready to Break Out?

The mid-majors almost had a major breakthrough last March.

Two missed lay-ups and a ridiculous coast-to-coast buzzer beater by Stanford's Jeanette Pohlen prevented Xavier from reaching the Final Four.

Three mid-majors reached the Sweet 16 in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. Xavier was the only one who advanced, but the Musketeers were oh so close to being the first mid-major to reach the Final Four since Jackie Stiles led Missouri State there in 2001.
