It's over. And for those in Penn State Nation, it must seem that it's over in the worst way possible.
Nittany Lions legend Joe Paterno officially announced his intent to retire today, effective the end of the season, in the wake of an ever-unfolding sex abuse scandal at the school he's served for the past 61 years. Paterno and other university officials have come under fire for not doing more to report (or, potentially, stop) the alleged abuses of minors committed by former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, who was indicted last week.
